JANUARY 2023: THE DEMAND FOR ELECTRICITY PURCHASE ON THE DAM INCREASED BY 37,8%

The demand for the electricity purchase on the day-ahead market in January 2023 increased by 37,8% compared to the previous month, and the offer for sale increased by 19,3%. The demand for electricity purchase on the intraday market decreased by 6,3%, while the supply decreased by 21,9%. At the same time, the traded volume of sales on the DAM in January 2023 was lower than the declared volume of sales by 14,8%, on the IDM – by 62,3%

The volume of electricity traded on the DAM during the first month of the year amounted to 1 891 695 MWh, whereas on the IDM – 206 788 MWh of electricity were traded. The second 10 days of January were the most deficient on the DAM and IDM.   

The price index of BASE electricity on the day-ahead market of Ukraine amounted to 3 289,12 UAH/MWh in January. The weighted average price of electricity purchase and sale on the DAM was 3 466,83 UAH/MWh for this month. On the intraday market the weighted average price of electricity traded in January was 3 684,26 UAH/MWh.   

The average prices on the day-ahead market in Ukraine are more than 1,7 times lower than the same prices in Romania, Slovak Republic and Hungary.
