JSC “MARKET OPERATOR” COMPLETES THE THIRD SEASON OF ITS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME FOR ELECTRICITY MARKET PARTICIPANTS

JSC “Market Operator” has completed the third season of its Programme for Raising Awareness of the Ukrainian Electricity Market — an educational initiative that combines the development of professional competencies among market participants with support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As a result of the third season in 2026, 231 electricity market participants successfully completed the training. Proceeds from the courses amounted to UAH 2.4 million, which will be directed towards supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Since the launch of the Programme in 2024, a total of 1,046 representatives of energy companies, industrial enterprises, agribusinesses, electricity producers, traders, and suppliers have participated. Over the entire period of the Programme’s implementation, total proceeds have reached UAH 10.5 million.

Today, the electricity market is undergoing rapid transformation under the influence of the war, the development of distributed generation, the deployment of energy storage facilities, and the emergence of new categories of market participants. Under these conditions, businesses require not fragmented knowledge but a comprehensive understanding of market principles, the interaction between market segments, and decision-making mechanisms.

For this reason, in 2024 JSC “Market Operator” launched the Programme for Raising Awareness of the Ukrainian Electricity Market. Its objective is to help market participants better navigate market processes, manage risks more effectively, and identify new opportunities for business development.

The Programme is designed for those seeking a clear understanding of how the electricity market operates, how to effectively sell electricity across different market segments, develop trading strategies for the Day-Ahead Market (DAM), Intraday Market (IDM), Bilateral Contracts Market (BCM), and Balancing Market, minimise imbalance risks, and establish effective interaction with the key elements of market infrastructure.

Over the past year, particular interest in the training programme has been demonstrated by companies developing gas engine and cogeneration generation facilities, operating in the renewable energy sector, implementing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), or planning to enter the market as new electricity producers, suppliers, or traders.

The educational programme comprises four specialised courses:

• “Market Model” — a foundational course covering the architecture of the electricity market, pricing principles, and the operation of its various segments;
• “Green+” — a course dedicated to the activities of renewable energy producers and energy storage facilities;
• “Distributed Generation” — training focused on the development of local generation and the specifics of its integration into the power system;
• “Balancing Market and Producers” — a practical course on forecasting, balancing, and minimising imbalance risks.

Representatives of NPC Ukrenergo, JSC “Guaranteed Buyer”, PJSC Ukrhydroenergo, leading energy companies, and experts from JSC “Market Operator” contributed to the delivery of consultations and training sessions.

Over the course of three seasons, the Programme has evolved into a platform for professional dialogue, knowledge exchange, and the development of a community of experts committed to advancing a competitive and transparent electricity market in Ukraine.
