INVESTMENTS IN ENERGY STORAGE: A FORUM ON THE PROSPECTS OF ENERGY STORAGE IN UKRAINE

29.07.2025

On September 3, 2025, the industry forum "Charge and Earn: How Energy Storage Systems Unlock New Opportunities in the Electricity Market" will take place in Kyiv, organized by the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine in partnership with JSC "Market Operator."

The forum will serve as a platform to discuss the prospects of Energy Storage Systems (ESS) in Ukraine, which are a key trend in the energy sector. The focus will be on the arbitrage model of ESS operations on the Day-Ahead Market (DAM), investment payback, practical cases, and techno-economic assessments.

Forum Program Highlights:

  • How ESS enables buying electricity at low prices and selling it during peak hours;
  • How businesses integrate storage systems into their models (case studies from Ukrainian companies);
  • Challenges and opportunities for investors;
  • The role of forecasting and balancing;
  • The potential of ESS participation across all market segments: DAM, Intraday Market (IDM), balancing market, and ancillary services market.

A separate Q&A session will allow registered participants to submit their questions prior to the event — the most relevant ones will be addressed during the third panel in an open discussion format.

Why is energy storage not just a temporary trend?

With the growing share of renewable energy sources and an unstable consumption schedule, the flexibility of the energy system becomes critically important. ESS — battery systems or other storage technologies — provide this flexibility by enabling:

  • load reduction on the grid,
  • price arbitrage operations,
  • improved reliability of energy supply,
  • operation within "smart" grid formats.

In the coming years, the role of storage systems will only increase, as they will become the foundation for a decentralized, sustainable, and efficient energy system. Therefore, this forum is for businesses that aim to stay ahead, scale in line with global trends, and develop new revenue sources in the energy sector.

Registration for the forum is available at: https://bess.aseu.solar. The venue will be communicated personally to each registered participant for security reasons.
