“MARKET OPERATOR” HAS DISCUSSED THE FUTURE OF THE SPOT ELECTRICITY MARKET IN UKRAINE WITH BUSINESS ASSOCIATIONS AND INDUSTRY EXPERTS

Oleksandr Havva, the Acting Director General of JSC “Market Operator”, presented his vision of the further spot electricity market’s development in Ukraine to representatives of business associations and energy industry experts.
The meeting was attended by Kateryna Polyakova - the Executive Director of the European-Ukrainian Energy Agency, Victoria Pysmenna - Co-Chair of the American Chamber of Commerce Renewable Energy Committee, Bohdan Serebrenikov - Market Development Manager at DiXi Group, Andrian Prokip - Energy Expert at the Ukrainian Institute for the Future, Volodymyr Omelchenko - Director of Energy and Infrastructure Programs at the Razumkov Center, Maksym Malashkin - President of the Ukrainian Energy Association, and Svitlana Osadcha - Manager of the Regulatory Affairs Department at D.Trading, from the European Business Association.
It was emphasized during the discussion that market participants, including consumers, need to improve the management of market, credit and operational risks for the further development of the Ukrainian electricity market,
"The development of the forward and financial markets as tools for hedging market risks will contribute to the development of the spot electricity market and its evolution from a tool for minimizing imbalances to a tool for ensuring physical supply (subject to financial price hedging). As it was observed in Germany, Scandinavia, Italy and other developed countries," - Oleksandr Havva emphasized during the meeting.
