THE JSC MARKET OPERATOR PRESENTED THE WORK OF THE UKRAINIAN SPOT MARKET TO EUROPEAN COLLEAGUES

The Acting Director General of the JSC Market Operator Oleksandr Havva presented the work of the Ukrainian spot market to the Romanian Market operator OPCOM, the Lithuanian Transmission system operator Litgrid and the Czech Market operator OTE with the participation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Energy Regulatory Office of the Czech Republic.
Oleksandr Havva told about the potential of the Ukrainian day-ahead market and the intraday market, where the annual trading volume was 40,8 TWh during the peacetime; about the price situation which is many times lower than in neighboring countries of the European Union; and about the surplus on spot market that is observed in many periods since the start of the DAM and IDM.
The attention of European colleagues also was focused on the development strategy of the Market Operator - corporatization, netting with the subsequent transition to clearing settlements conduction, and coupling of the Ukrainian day-ahead market with the European electricity spot market.
«We are confident that spot electricity markets coupling of Ukraine and the EU will allow us to build a mutually beneficial long-term partnership. European support on this way is so valuable for us and particularly and is especially felt in this difficult time for the Ukrainian energy sector», - Oleksandr Havva said during the online meeting.
At the same time, the European colleagues have expressed their readiness to support these objectives by exchanging expertise and recommendations.
