HOW BALANCING SERVICE PROVIDERS OPERATE AND HOW TO MINIMIZE RISKS: TO BE DISCUSSED ON MAY 18 AT THE COURSE “BALANCING MARKET AND GENERATORS”

29.04.2026

On April 28, 2026, as part of the social program of JSC “Market Operator” aimed at increasing awareness of how Ukraine’s electricity market functions, a specialized course titled “Balancing Market and Generators” was held.

The event focused on one of the most complex segments of the electricity market—the balancing market, where forecasting accuracy and the speed of decision-making directly affect participants’ financial performance.

The course had a strong practical focus, enabling participants not only to master theoretical foundations but also to review real market case studies. Particular attention was paid to the principles of providing balancing services and price formation in the balancing market. Participants gained a clear understanding of the market structure, scheduling algorithms, and tools for minimizing risks in day-to-day operations.

The consultations also included step-by-step explanations of interaction processes with the transmission system operator (TSO), execution of dispatch instructions, and response to non-standard situations. This format helps build a comprehensive understanding of the role of generators in maintaining power system balance.

The “Balancing Market and Generators” course is part of a broader educational initiative that also covers areas such as “Market Model,” “Green+,” and “Distributed Generation.” The program has an important social component: all proceeds from the consultations are directed to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The next “Balancing Market and Generators” course under the social program of JSC “Market Operator” will take place on May 18, 2026.
